Antique Handknotted Kurdish Tribal Dowry Rug
What is a Dowry Rug? You may ask.
Following a century-old Turkish tradition, Dowry rugs are given to the groom on behalf of the bride's parents as a wedding gift. Usually kept in a safe place and never used as floor coverings, these vintage rugs are usually in excellent condition with vibrant colours and an even pile throughout.
But as often happens, the rugs are handed down over time and are eventually sold for the need of cash.
This rug has been in our family for many years, but since I have moved, I regrettably no longer have the right spot for it. I have the underlay padding used with this rug that I will give along with its sale. The padding is of excellent quality and still has a long useful life. This rug is clean, without stains, and all sides are secure. It measures 4.7 x 6.10 feet
