This True Antique Handwoven Art Deco Rug from the 1920's is a beautiful piece featuring an Oriental pattern with a Chinese design. Measuring approximately 4' x 6', this red wool rug is hand-knotted with intricate detail, showcasing the craftsmanship of the era. The Art Deco style and garden theme add a touch of elegance to any room, making it a unique and timeless addition to any collection. Made in China, this rug is a true reflection of Chinese culture and traditional production techniques. The dark line running down the middle is just because it had been folded in half, then rolled up and stored that way for a while. That crease will disappear after a short while, once it's fully open and walked on. There are a couple of inconspicuous stains that fade into the background and draw little attention. I believe these were old coffee stains, but again, the carpet has been professionally cleaned, and there are no odors. I have posted a detail of the stains in the last photo. Even though the stains are not distinctive, I have greatly reduced the rug's price from what it would otherwise be.

When assessing a rug's value, it's vital to compare it with rugs of similar origin and age. Enlarging photos is essential to get a close-up view of the rug and to evaluate the extent of wear and the amount of repair the carpet has experienced. That will help you determine how much longer the carpet may last. If a rug is worn down to its foundation, it is at risk of breaking apart from constant foot traffic, which could further deteriorate it. Also, if the sides and the ends are not secured or bound, the rug will unravel and pull apart.
